Have a Harmonious Relationship in Your Work Space by Following These Tips

Having an office space in Cebu is a great way to increase your creativity, save money on lease or rent, and mingle with like-minded people who’ll help you increase your business. However, when it comes to sharing work space, having a lack of understanding of office etiquette could lead to you violating rules of privacy, which may lead to arguments or even tension in the office. To prevent such scenario, here is an article on some office dos and don’ts to make your work floor relation with workmates and staff a productive one!

Do:

Always be considerate. Your staff may be the type of individuals who need a serene and silent space so respect this while you’re doing your tasks. If you are the kind of person who talks loudly on the phone, go out to take your calls and keep your phone on silent mode. Receiving an SMS every few minutes might mean you’re ok with your friends, but, certainly, not in the office.

Don’t:

Be a mess. Being considerate applies to places that include your work space, as well as the lounges and pantries. Some of your staff may have some real issues with mess and can’t focus if they’re looking at your clutter and litter.

Do:

Communicate and talk to workmates. One of the perks of office sharing is the collaborative setting it promotes. You can throw ideas off of other staff, get tips and advice, and make some pals.

Don’t:

Be too talkative. Yes, you can talk about last night’s episode of Game of Throne, but keep chitchat to a professional minimum and on a non-disruptive level; also, some people hate spoilers. Another thing to put in to mind is to know who wants to be talked to. If your workmate has their headphones on or they look like they’re in the middle of a crucial deadline, save the talk for later.

Do:

Personalize your spot. You need to be able to do tasks in your workplace, so make that spot feel like it’s your own. Check your office’s rules on this and make sure any photos are allowed in the workspace.

Don’t:

Just sit there. Maximize the use of office facilities, whether this is the pantry, a conference room, or a social lounge. If you need to talk to someone in private, either personally or over the phone, use a meeting room instead of your cubicle.

Do:

Chip in to the office pantry. If you use the last sachet of coffee, add some more! And while you’re making yourself a cup, offer to make some for your mates, too. You don’t have to fix one for the whole office, but the guy sitting next to you might like some coffee.

This article aims help you be a considerate employer or employee— it is always a win-win situation. If you had the bad luck to have a co-workers who don’t follow these basic rules— talk to them, quietly and subtly.
